Fair Trade Fortnight 27 February to 11 March The gift shop at Antrim Castle Gardens currently stocks a range of Fair Trade products including a new range of children’s pocket money items and themed interior decorating items from Lanka Kade.  Items are sourced from seven family enterprises in Sri Lanka, made from sustainable rubber wood, and not involving child labour, UK designed and CE approved. The ethos of the gift shop is that 80% of the stock is either Fair Trade, Organic, Environmentally Responsible, Recycled, Locally Sourced or supporting Heritage Crafts. As work progresses towards the completion of restoration and development works in Antrim Castle Gardens, this week marks a major milestone with the installation of a new permanent Events & Activities Pavilion in the Large Parterre Garden part funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Situated in the formal plant surroundings of the parterre and hornbeam grove, this new Pavilion echoes the historical precedent of garden structures for shelter and entertaining featured throughout many historical gardens across Europe. Nestled in the courtyard of Clotworthy House in the centre of Antrim Castle Gardens, a new garden Coffee Shop is now open.  Perfect for a quick tea or coffee, a sandwich or a slice of cake, the Coffee Shop is a great place to prepare yourself for a walk around the garden or exhibitions.  Currently open Monday to Friday, 9.30am-4pm, and Saturdays 10am-4pm, providing a welcome stop on any refreshing walking tour of the Garden.
